F*ucking around, just a little.
Hmmmm, on here it seems there is hardly a difference, either way here is the photo shoot for February. Part 1 at least, hopefully there will be another before the month is out. Anyway, just messing around in photoshop with the idea of Lomo effects and Vignettes. Original Image first.

Cropped original image

Tweeked, but still needs quite a bit more tweeking for that old worn look/feel-ish
And yes, I'm aware that I still spelled the whole word fuck out.12:16p.m.

Real Peak: Printing
Nowhere near done editing/playing with the few good shots I got from this shoot but here's a better idea of what it looks like.

So I got a Canon Selphy, a little photo printer a couple months ago. I needed one for upcoming gigs or at least a potential one. I got this one mostly because is was the cheapest thing, plus after a bit of research I was convinced that its print quality was the generally ranked as one of the highest amongnst similar printers. Printing during the snow-in I realized the print qaulity is hardly what I'd consider remotely close to one of the best, that's my main issue with it, however there are a handful of other minor issue's I have with it to, nothing major at all. Either way this is what I have and I plan on buying an HP one, the one I initially started to buy, that is until Best Buy played me. Below is how it works, a yellow layer, then red color layer, then final color. I like seeing its process.

Best Styled Videos 2010
Rihanna -Rock Star
Beyonce -Why Don't You Love Me
Monica -Everything to Me
I like to save the best for last, but I guess in this case, the way I ordered the videos is only representative of how I feel any day of the week or all the days of the week at the same time, the only thing missing is a little bohemian, thought through Erykah Badu,Amel Larrieux videos but nothing jumped out at me hmm well maybe that It Kills Me -Melanie Fiona video, and that fits into 2010 as well but I don't know thats not that boho. Anyway how I dress and my style don't necessarily reflect each other most days of the week. I can't afford a thing in any of those videos but the point lies in between the lines. Classic, yet edgy = perfect! 11:58 p.m.

Art Institute: Bresson and more...
Back at the Museum today to visit my old buddy Bresson. I just had to take advantage again of being able see again up close and personal some of the images that are so hard to come across on the internet.

I glanced at the Archibald Motley that I always stop and take a look at when I'm there. Blues 1929 which I had as a poster in college, I still have it around here somewhere and plan on getting my cheap reproduction framed one of these days.
I walked around a bit longer to try to avoid some rush hour traffic before I headed home...

Just when I thought it was safe to go home Fashion at the Museum stopped me in my tracks...
I wonder if this 1967 ad was on Beyonce's inspiration board when she did that Diva video, or on the inspiration board of the designer who made the similar one's Beyonce wore.
Upon exploring more of the museum today I discovered Alice Springs better known as Helmut Newtons wife June Newton (Brunell). I found her in a Taschen book in a museum shop when I was trying to find out who is the photographer responsible for this
iconic photo of Donyale Luna which is also the cover of the book I was leafing through.(Charlotte March took this photo which was published in 1966 in Twen magazine)
this is just a better photo I found online.
I didn't have this on today but this is what I wore the last time I attempted to go so I just posted it, just because lol. 12:00a.m.

Yanga Festival
So yesterday I skipped over the dressmaking (I know I know) and decided to go outside and check out some arts and crafts festivals, but I ended up only going to one... I wanted to go to the Bucktown Arts fest as well, show the contrast between up north and the south side but Corey shot that down so maybe next year. Either way we ended up here...
at the DuSable Museum for the Yanga Fest, formerly known as the Arts and Crafts Festival.
We (as in mostly he) passed out flyers, promoting the October 21st premier of the latest movie he's starring in, I posted the link to the trailer a few weeks back but if you missed it click here to catch up. For all the info on the movie go to GetaJobComedy.com or just click here.

... checked out some really great jewelry, not pictured because I want save that for later posts when I followup with some of the designers. I own the owl ring its H&M about $6 and the blue one I thought looked better in the basket.

I wore my Melody Ehsani piece, which I kept getting compliments on. Get your custom M.E. pieces here. and $20 discount store dress by a generic brand. I don't wear dresses often or own many but I'm really going to work on that.
I have to wear flat shoes when I don't really know what I might be getting into for the day.
and the perfect ending to a beautiful day, a visit from the nephews, the other one was sleeping : ) 11:49p.m.

Come with me...

are we there yet???

It was free night at the Art Institute earlier and one of my favorite photographers is visiting until October 3rd.

These are some of the first photos I was shown by Henri Cartier-Bresson. The hour I was there before closing was not enough. I discovered so much more than I knew was there. Of course now I have to head to Amazon.com (well sometime in October when my money recuperates from the shopping I've done/am doing this month and the cruise I'm going on next month) to find the book of his work the Art Institute was selling for $75, for less, much less. I'm going back the next Thursday evening I have off before the exhibit is over and maybe I won't be to scared next time to sneak a camera photo of some of the photos that pause me.
Here is a cool one either taken or developed/published in 1951 of fashion photographer Richard Avedon, once editor of Harper's Bazaar Carmel Snow, and Marie Louis Bousquet 3:14a.m.

Birthday Dress Part Due
Remember the Birthday Dress Post? No... well click here. Okay so I have an update on the progress.

Tadahh. Confession time, I was already at this point in the construction when I did the initial post. I know I know. I only planned to do about three posts on the dress, begginning, middle, and end. This isnt quite the middle as you can see there are no sleeves, and its not fitting properly, when I accomplish those thing I will be at the middle. Soo, I haven't worked on it at all since I did the inital post, and I've already given myself the talk, Im going to finish it! Or at least work on it some more some time soon...1:23pm
